Our beloved Chobe Safari Lodge is getting a makeover! ‌

Chobe Safari Lodge has been a traveller favourite for decades thanks to its breathtaking wildlife encounters, comfortable accommodations, and unforgettable riverfront setting.

We are committed to maintaining the highest standards and have ongoing renovations due for completion in 2025.

 

RENOVATIONS SCHEDULED AT CHOBE SAFARI LODGE

 

How will renovations affect my safari experience?

The dining area, jetty, sunset deck, and River Rooms are temporarily closed along with reception and the safari shop at Chobe Safari Lodge.

However, our famous Chobe River cruises and game drives will continue without interruption, and delicious meals, activities, plus shopping are still available at the beautiful Chobe Bush Lodge.

 

Part of the campsite remains operational during the revamp.

Noise levels and building disruptions are minimal, confined to the furthest eastern wing of the property, away from guest activities and services.

Boats are launching from a jetty in the campsite area near the iconic Sedudu Sunset Bar, which is open daily between 08h00 and 22h00. Dinner is available from 18h00 to 22h00.

We will also have a new immersive outdoor dining adventure beside the Chobe River at the Sedudu Sunset Bar and Grill.

 

Welcome to Chobe Bush Lodge

 

All arrivals will be welcomed at the Chobe Bush Lodge reception, and operations continue normally, with dining available at the buffet area and poolside terrace. The activities office will assist all guests at Chobe Bush Lodge in booking tiger fishing, boat cruises, game drives, and so much more

> Upgrades to River Rooms provide more luxury and comfort, allowing guests to relax after a day of thrilling safaris.

> Renovated Common Areas. Our dining areas, lounge, and other communal spaces will receive a fresh look.

> Improved Nature Viewing. Enhancements to our viewing decks and observation areas will maximize our incredible location on the Chobe River.

Botswana's best heritage stay, Chobe Safari Lodge, has a freshly renovated wing of suites and enhanced activities.

Travellers seeking a classic African safari experience have long looked to Chobe Safari Lodge, which has hosted adventurers for over decades, and has undergone meticulous renovations to deliver an even more elegant and immersive experience.

 

CHOBE SAFARI LODGE, ESTABLISHED IN 1959

The newly refurbished Safari Rooms pay homage to Chobe Safari Lodge's 60-year history as the first lodging in Kasane and its privileged proximity to the Chobe National Park.

Every generously proportioned room was designed with the utmost attention to detail, featuring elegant furnishings, plush bedding, and spacious bathrooms.

 

Honouring The Chobe Safari Lodge story

Archival documents and historical photographs celebrate a cherished legacy, striking basketry honours Botswana's local artistry, and gorgeous light spills into the suites reflected off the rippling Chobe River. Classic Zambezi teak furnishings have been revitalised with the environment in mind, and brass and wood seams have been lovingly laid into the floors as a nod to the storied Serondela Sawmill ruins inside the Chobe National Park.

Each Safari Room has a romantic ball-and-claw bath and walk-in shower, plus modern perks such as upgraded air conditioning and plug points, Wi-Fi, satellite TV, a coffee machine, and a tranquil verandah to sip it on. The highlight of these rooms remains their spectacular views of the Chobe River and lush grounds.

Extensive upgrades of the Safari Rooms are complemented by enhancements across all activities, for unforgettable wildlife experiences inside the Chobe National Park.

> All boats have been given a fresh lick of ivory-coloured paint and recarpeted for nature lovers to enjoy Africa’s best boat safari and epic elephant sightings on the Chobe River.
> Passenger numbers have been significantly reduced to a maximum of 35 per double-decker vessel for uncrowded views.
> Several swish private boats seat up to eight and are ideal for groups, families or special interest cruises, such as birdwatching or photography.
> Morning game drives now include sophisticated coffee stops with French press coffee and yummy rusks, plus a blanket and hot water bottle for chilly mornings.

The recent refurbishment is just the first phase of a larger program, with further upgrades due from November 2023 and the management of Chobe Safari Lodge is excited to continue providing guests with a memorable safari experience.
